How to Diagnose Oil Leak on Mitsubishi Magna Automatic

How to Diagnose Oil Leak on Mitsubishi Magna Automatic Steps: 1. If you have noticed that there are oil spots, developing into a larger oil stain, under the engine area where you usually and regularly park your vehicle,it is worth a few moments to do some very basic tests to head off and avoid very expensive repairs. Place a large, approximately 1 meter square piece of clean cardboard or thick paper on the floor, under where the engine of your vehicle is located. This should be done after the vehicle has been for a 'run' and at operating temperature. ,say after 1 hour, then 2 hours, then overnight, the cardboard 'carpet' should be checked for oil spots. Of course,an engine and gearbox on modern vehicles should have no oil cars were notorious for oil leaks because of poor technology at the time. As a rough guide, here is a color code for different spots on your cardboard... Clear or watery wet could be fuel... Watery wet but colored blue could be radiator coolant...Black could be engine oil... Seal grey could be manual (stick) gearbox oil... Red oil spots could be power steer fluid or auto transmission oil... The reason for this article is about auto transmission oil leaks. If you have red oil spots,it could mean the auto gearbox has developed a leak. Mitsubishi auto gearboxes are manufactured in such a way as that the outer casing or shell is basically two halves bolted together. Where the two halves meet, there must be some kind of sealant goo of silastic to prevent the internal oil from leaking out... Mitsubishi,in their wisdom, used a type of sealant which, over a period of time goes brittle hard. The passage of time and the stresses of the (usually daily) heating and cooling of the vehicles engine will lead to the failure of this sealant.3. Should you discover your vehicle has any leak of any kind,of course it is in your interest to have it inspected by a professional. If the diagnosis is the auto gearbox where the two halves of the casing join,it can be expensive, but much cheaper than if the gearbox runs low on oil and 'cooks' itself due to overheating through lack of lubrication. The fix procedure involves the draining then removal of the auto gearbox Autel MaxiDiag MD802. The ring of bolts holding the two halves together can then be undone. The two halves can then (sometimes with great difficulty and perseverance) levered apart by approximately 10mm or half inch maxidiag elite md802 updates... (no more than that!) When levering it apart, great care must be taken to not damage the two mating faces. With it now slightly split,a scraper tool such as a modified steak knife can be used to remove the dried and cracked old sealant. With this out of the way,and the surfaces clean and free from any oil residue, new sealant can be applied. The best quality sealant available is the only way to go. Seek advice... The two halves can be bolted back together, having not dislodged the bearings from their seating slots... Refit the gearbox, and refill using only genuine Mitsubishi auto transmission fluid, for which you will probably need a bank loan. It is not known as liquid gold for nothing, but it is the only fluid to use in my experience. Other oils will fail and you will end up with a broken gearbox and back to square 1. Getting the oil level correct is also an art form.. Seek advice... So now you know... hope this helps

So it is good owners usually with care in order to avoid the engine cannot be started or dealers suddenly stalled halfway dilemma MaxiTPMS TS501 Scanner. In fact, as long as the owner at the time of each inspection of the engine, by the way take a minute to care about the battery on it. Here's what to do battery maintenance tips: 1, with a damp cloth to scrub the external battery, the panel, the pile head (i.e., both positive and negative pole) of dirt, oil, white powder and so easy to wipe clean the dirt caused by leakage. So often scrub the battery, the battery will not pile head etched white powder product, its life will be longer. 2, open the battery cover water autel maxiscan ms609, to see if the water level in the normal position. Usually on the side of the battery will be the lower limit of the standard lines for your reference. If the water level is below the lower marking found, you must add distilled water, distilled water if you get bit, you can use filtered tap water emergency. Cannot add too much water, is added to the standard marking down the middle. 3, check whether the battery is charging properly. If you have a millimeter, after starting the engine, the amount of what the poles of the battery voltage exceeds 13V above must be considered normal. Found that the charging voltage is too low, you need to ask professionals about the overhaul of the charging system. If there is no MultiMate, available visual method: After starting the engine, open the battery cover with water and see every little Gerry surface there fizzy. Normal situation is constantly bubbles emerge water, and the more fuel will have to take the more; if you find that there is no bubble, it is probably something wrong with the charging system. Special attention is paid to do this test will be generated when hydrogen, so when the test must not smoke, avoid fire or explosion occurred. Often check the car can find problems early and avoid unnecessary losses. Winter Car Cleaning

Winter Car Cleaning While a car can get dirty any time of year, winter is particularly hard on a car. This is because road salts and the contaminants found in most snow can damage a car's paint job and metal underbody more quickly than regular dirt and debris. Keep your car clean through the winter and beyond by taking a few key steps and prevent unsightly damage MaxiDiag Elite MD704. Basic Cleaning One of the best ways to keep your car clean through the winter is to wash it frequently. Many people neglect to do this, knowing that it won't be long before salt and road spray do away with the clean appearance, but keeping the amount of salt on the car to a minimum is important to prevent rust and other damage. Underbody Cleaning Salt and sludge tend to build up on a car's underbody, where metallic components may not have the same kind of protection as the car's painted body panels. Mufflers, gas tanks and even the frame of the car itself are especially susceptible to rust and may be costly to repair or replace. Always choose an underbody washing option at an automated car wash. If you're washing the car yourself, spend extra time spraying beneath the car to wash away as much salt as possible Autel MaxiDiag MD702. Waxing Wax is a great way to protect a car from salt. The wax provides a temporary barrier from salt and debris. It's a good idea to apply a coat of wax in the fall, before the roads are salted. However, you can also perform a mid-winter wax job. Be sure to check the manufacturer's specifications on your wax of choice to be sure you can use it at lower temperatures. Interior Cleaning While the most obvious damage that occurs during winter happens on the outside of a car, keeping the interior clean is also a good idea. Winter floor mats, which feature rubber trenches for capturing salt and melted snow, can help prevent carpet damage. Use a protectant cream or spray on upholstery to keep it soft and prevent damage from moisture.

Novice car owner how to effectively deal with brake failure?

Novice car owner how to effectively deal with brake failure? If the vehicle is in motion brake failure occurs, how should we do? Novice how to deal with it? 1: According to the road conditions and vehicle speed control the direction, let the high-speed gear shift into low gear autel maxidiag elite md802. Thus, the engine will be has great resistance to traction speed decreased rapidly. In addition, while in the downshift should be combined using the handbrake but be careful not taut and hold the handbrake and cannot pull too slowly. If you pull too tight, easy to make the brake disc "locking " is likely to damage the mechanical transmission loss of braking ability; If you pull too slow will lead to brake disc wear erosion and loss of braking action. 2: Use such as steel, roadside and natural obstacles (rocks, trees or slope) friction, collision car parts, to forcibly stop escape purposes, reduce accident losses as much as possible. 3: There was a brake failure uphill should be timely reduction into low gear and maintain sufficient momentum onto the top of the hill to stop. For hillside parking, should be kept low forward gear. Tighten the hand brake, appliance crew should promptly with stones, skids and other objects jammed wheel. If have the slip phenomenon, should be directed to the car rear side to the hillside or safety place, and open headlights and emergency lights, attract the front and rear car attention. 4: downhill brake failure, when their car bodies cannot control the speed, the driver should be decisively use natural obstacles, such as roadside rocks, trees, etc., resulting in resistance to the car. If you cannot find a suitable terrain, objects can be used in emergency situations can be on one side of the body closer to the hillside in order to increase the frictional resistance, gradually reduce speed. 5: Vehicle in long slope, steep slope regardless of whether in any case should step on the brake. Both not only testing braking performance, when you discovery brake failure you can also win the time to control the speed, also known as predictive brake. After shift to the neutral gear, the shift lever is often unstable, rocking back and forth, could easily lead to mechanical wear and tear. How the ignition system works

This article explains how the ignition system of a car works to start the engine Autel MaxiDiag. How the ignition system works The purpose of the ignition system is to generate a very high voltage from the car's 12 volt battery, and to send this to each sparkplug in turn, igniting the fuel-air mixture in the engine's combustion chambers. The coil is the component that produces this high voltage. It is an electromagnetic device that converts the low-tension (LT) current from the battery to high-tension (HT) current each time the distributor contact-breaker points open. The distributor unit consists of a metal bowl containing a central shaft, which is usually driven directly by the camshaft or,sometimes,by the crankshaft. The bowl houses the contact-breaker points, rotor arm,and a device for altering the ignition timing. It also carries the distributor cap. Distributing the current The distributor cap is made of nonconductive plastic, and the current is fed to its central electrode by the HT lead from the centre of the coil. Inside the cap there are more electrodes often called segments to which the sparkplug leads are connected, one per cylinder. The rotor arm is fitted on top of the central shaft, and connects to the central electrode by means of a metal spring or spring-loaded brush in the top of the distributor cap. The current enters the cap through the central electrode, passes to the centre of the rotor arm through the brush, and is distributed to each plug as the rotor arm revolves. As the rotor arm approaches a segment, the contact-breaker points open and HT current passes through the rotor arm to the appropriate sparkplug lead. The contact-breaker points are mounted inside the distributor. They act as a switch,in synchronisation with the engine, that cuts off and reconnects the 12 volt low-tension (LT) circuit to the coil. The points are opened by cams on the central shaft, and are closed again by a spring arm on the moving contact. With the points closed,LT current flows from the battery to the primary windings in the coil, and then to earth through the points. When the points open, the magnetic field in the primary winding collapses and high-tension (HT) current is induced in the secondary windings. This current is transferred to the sparkplugs through the distributor cap. On a four-cylinder engine there are four cams. With each full rotation of the shaft the points open four times. Six-cylinder engines have six cams and six electrodes in the cap. The position of the points and the distributor's body in relation to the central shaft can be adjusted manually. This alters the timing of the spark to obtain an exact setting (see How engine timing works). Further changes occur automatically as the engine speed varies according to the throttle opening. In some modern ignition systems,micro-electronics ensure the optimum ignition timing for all engine speeds and engine load conditions (see How engine timing works). Completing the circuit The sparkplugs are screwed into the combustion chambers in the cylinder head. HT current passes from each segment on the distributor cap down the plug leads to the plug caps. It then passes down the central electrode, which is insulated along its length,to the nose of the plug. A side electrode connected to the plug body protrudes just below the central one, with the gap between the two usually set from 0.025 in. (0.6 mm) to 0.035 in. (0.9 mm). The current sparks across this gap maxidiag elite md802 all systems, flows along the side electrode, through the plug body and the engine, then back to the coil, completing the circuit.

What to Carry in Your Car Toolbox

What to Carry in Your Car Toolbox If you plan to do your own car maintenance and repairs, you need a toolbox to keep tools clean, in good shape, and all in one place. Look for a lightweight, plastic toolbox that fits easily into the trunk of your vehicle and fill it with these tools: Screwdrivers: The difference between a standard screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver is the shape of the head, as shown here. Offset screwdrivers are handy because they make it easy to get to screws that have little clearance over the head. Offset screwdrivers come in both standard and Phillips styles and some have one of each type of head at either end. Screwholders: Instead of holding a screw in place with the fingers of one hand while wielding the screwdriver with your other hand, you fit the screw into the screwholder and use it to insert and tighten the screw autel ds708. Wrenches: Wrenches are probably the most basic tools for auto repair. Most wrenches are available in both standard also known as SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and metric measurements. Today, most American vehicles have a mix of SAE and metric nuts and bolts. Foreign vehicles or foreign components used on American vehicles (a practice that's becoming quite common) use metric nuts and bolts even the inch-based British. Socket wrenches: Socket wrenches come in sets for a wide variety of prices, depending on quality and how many wrenches are in the set. You need at least one ratchet handle; most sets have two or three handles with at least one adapter. Socket extenders are indispensable items to help you reach those almost-unreachable nuts and bolts. Combination wrenches: Combination wrenches have one open end and one boxed end autel ms609. These wrenches come in sets of several sizes, and each wrench is made to fit a nut of a specific size, whichever end you use. Torque wrenches: These wrenches are designed to tighten a nut, bolt, or screw to an exact degree to avoid under-tightening or over-tightening. Adjustable wrenches: You probably already have a crescent wrench in the house, and you can adjust the jaws to fit a variety of nuts and bolts simply by turning the wheel. Pliers: If you have to buy pliers, the very best kind to get are combination slip-joint pliers. You can adjust this general-purpose tool to several widths with a sliding pin. Gauges: Several tools are available to help you determine when enough oil, fluid, air, pressure, or whatever is enough. The gauges here are the most useful: Tire pressure gauges: If you never check anything else on your vehicle, make a habit of regularly checking the tire pressure; it's critical both for safety and good fuel economy. Wire and taper feeler gauges: You use wire and taper feeler gauges for gapping spark plugs. Compression gauges: You use compression gauges to check the pressure that builds up in each cylinder as your engine runs. In addition to these basics, you might want a work light. Fluorescent work lights can draw power from the car's battery or cigarette lighter or plug into a wall socket. They also come with changeable batteries, like flashlights. And if your car didn't come with a jack, you'll want to be sure you get one of those, and jack stands too.

In fact, in a timely manner maintaining the exterior lighting is critical to driver, which affects not only driving comfort, but also directly related to traffic safety. Usually before getting remind the owner is difficult to realize that headlights, taillights, turn lights or parking lights have been unable to work properly. More often, the fault must not be limited lights bulbs burn out, plug socket corrosion or plug damage of this kind of small problems, often need to take professional diagnostic techniques to analyze the root cause of the malfunction occurred. Even the low-cost car, its interior and exterior lighting is also controlled by the host computer; while those luxury cars, their headlights as far as need three computers to control. If the car is equipped with daytime running lights system DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), you must first understand the working principle of these devices. For example, some daytime running lights system before the engine is started, the daytime running lights cannot be opened; There are daytime running lights system, if the parking brake has not been canceled, even if the engine has started, the daytime running lights are still not working properly. If the vehicle is equipped with a light-controlled light (ie, when the outside light is dim to a certain extent, the system automatically turns on the headlights with the function), may wish to check the status of a photosensitive from the weakest to the strongest during the lights work, of course, Do not ignore check the automatically turn off timer. If the system is equipped with a timer, set it to the maximum delay. If the car headlight is damaged, usually use similar lamp to be replaced. Some cars equipped with high -intensity discharge headlamps HID, high-pressure arc the device through its pre-designed electronic system to produce high-density discharge generates light. Note that ordinary quartz - halogen bulbs cannot be applied here. Also need checking the headlight lenses for cracks, because although the surface cracks do not affect the performance of the headlights illuminated, but the moisture will penetrate cracks along the lamps Autolink AL619 Scanner, which inevitably will reduce lamp lifespan. Calibration headlight illumination direction should also be included in the list of maintenance items, because in order to ensure maximum safety of motorists driving, headlights must be able to provide good lighting for the driving of the vehicle forward. In addition, many vehicles will be fog lights as standard equipment or popular optional parts, fog lights usually installed in a lower position of the car, and therefore vulnerable to stone damage, while its maintenance, in addition to checking the lighting system itself, the headlight lens crack should not be overlooked OBD2 Scanner. What Happens When You Put Sugar in a Gas Tank

What Happens When You Put Sugar in a Gas Tank? Just about everyone has heard of the notion that putting sugar in a gas tank will destroy a car engine MaxiDiag Elite MD802. But is it really true? While putting sugar in a car's gas tank won't always destroy an engine, it can cause some major damage and, in most instances, cause the victimized car to stall and require major Happens to the Sugar? Sugar is a scourge to car engines because it doesn't dissolve in gasoline. This means sugar poured into a gas tank will get sucked into the fuel lines and begin clogging up a vital part or parts of your engine's fuel system. It can disable the fuel filter, the fuel pump and the fuel injectors, depending on how much sugar is loaded into a gas tank and where it accumulates. Wherever it ends up, the sticky ball of sugar will block the fuel flow and cause your engine to stall and not start again ds708 update. And once a mechanic takes the engine apart, repairs can be expensive, especially if the sugar reaches your carburetor or fuel injectors. You'll also need your fuel tank emptied and cleaned and your fuel lines flushed out or replaced. So while sugar won't exactly destroy an engine, it can destroy parts of your engine that are expensive. Not surprisingly, the sugar-in-the-gas-tank tactic was developed in the early 20th century as a guerrilla war tactic to disable enemy Exceptions to the Rule There are cases where sugar can completely ruin an engine. If enough sugar gets by the filter, pumps and fuel injectors, it can get into the engine itself, and build up in the valves and piston rings. Once there, it will eventually harden into a mess that will require a complete engine overhaul or a new engine. But the chances of that happening to new car models is slim because most cars today have sophisticated fuel filter systems designed to catch contaminants and prevent them from reaching the engine. The bottom line is that putting sugar in a gas tank really can cause some damage. The only variable is how much damage it causes.

Door Lock Replacement

Door Lock Replacement The electric door locks inside of your car doors consist of a control switch, the locking door latch and/or an electric control solenoid. When the control switch is energized an electrical impulse forces the control solenoid to push or pull the locking mechanism depending on the command selected. (Lock and unlock). Anytime you have problems with an electric door lock check the fuses or thermo fuse the powers the system. Step 1 - Identity Door Switches and Controls Door Panel Components The average vehicle door has basic controls for the different functions the door performs. Interior light and safety reflector helps illuminate the interior of the vehicle. When the door is open the light and the reflector alert people from a distance your door is open. The electric window switch controls the electrical power to the window motor. The motor turns a series of gears and/or cables to power the window up and down. The electric door switch controls electrical power to the lock solenoid actuator controlling the door to be locked or unlocked. Car Windshield

Car Windshield The car windshield,or just plain windshield,is the primary auto glass part on any vehicle. Simply explained MaxiDiag Elite MD701,the car windshield (the front window) is a piece of material used to"shield"the driver (and passengers) in a vehicle from the air or wind current created when traveling in an automobile. However, today's windshields are much more than just a shield against the wind. The windshield is created with a combination of glass and plastic. Two pieces of laminated safety glass"sandwiches"a piece of plastic and the entire product is held together with glue. This technology became a standard in the 1920's thanks to Henry Ford and French invention. More than just a screen from wind, the windshield is one of the major safety devices of a car as well as a shield from stones, insects, debris and ultraviolet light. Today,a windshield's usefulness has been taken to the next level by commonly employing advanced technology including heads-up displays, solar coating,high-beam glare reduction, heating elements, condensation sensors, rain sensors and night vision features. The windshield is permanently affixed to the vehicle's frame with a pinch-weld. A specially designed adhesive, called urethane,is used to create a molecular bond between the vehicle's frame and the glass. If this bond is broken,it can negatively influence the rollover safety of vehicle as well as deployment of airbags. Mobile Glass takes the use of correct urethane very seriously and currently we only use Sika brand 220 urethane. This is not the industry standard. In fact,it's quite the contrary! Sika 220 is a much higher quality product which has noticably reduced our warranty work and increased confidence in our superior service Autel Maxivideo MV400. The cost of Sika is actually twice that of standard urethanes other auto glass companies use,yet our prices are still lower. Mobile Glass is doing our part to truly deliver a high quality product for a lower price. Truck Windshield The work truck'can be used to describe both personal pickup trucks and commercial trucks. So for clarification, personal pickup truck windshields are similar to automobile windshields described above. In this section,we'll be discussing the commercial truck windshield. Most commercial trucks actually have two windshield glass parts creating a"split"windshield. Because the span of the cab is much wider than passenger vehicles, the commercial truck windshield can be massive when designed as one piece. Thanks to kind designers, most commercial trucks, including Freightliners and Macks, have adopted the split design. Due to the nature of the trucking business, commercial drivers need to have their broken windshields replaced immediately. Mobile Glass may be the only choice for most commercial truck owners. Our business is designed to provide fast mobile service to the truck's location so drivers can meet all their professional deadlines. Windshield Prices To get a windshield price,Mobile Glass recommends using our quote form. Generally speaking, windshield prices are the least expensive of all auto glass in your vehicle. Windshield prices for more common automobiles (Chevrolet,GMC,Ford, etc.) can be much lower than for foreign makes. Windshield cost really depends on your particular model. Prices can also vary depending on the type of service you require: windshield repair vs. windshield replacement. Windshield Repair Most windshield chips or cracks can be repaired. We have a page specifically dedicated to discussing windshield repair. Mobile Glass goes one step further for our customers,we even offer a"do it yourself"section. So,if you are looking for rock chip repair, windshield crack repair, repair costs or looking to do it yourself, then you have come to right place!
