How to Remove Car Dents Without Using Filler

Expensive auto body repairs can be easily avoided by using modern paintless dent removal techniques Autel MaxiSys Pro. Small dents on metal panels no longer have to be hammered out and filled with body filler, and there is no need to carry out a full auto body paint repair as long as the dent hasn't broken through the surface of the topcoat.

Paintless dent removal utilizes a simple series of tools to remove superficial knocks and minor levels of accident damage. The most commonly used tools are shaped metal rods and pulling sticks that bond onto auto body panels with glue. The metal rods are usually implemented if the dent is accessible from behind the auto body panel. Once trim has been removed to create easier access, the shaped ends on the metal rods are used to ease out the dent until a flat metal surface is achieved.

The secret to paintless dent removal using metal rods is to start removing the dent from the outside of the impression and to continue working inwards. If the dent is lifted directly from the middle of the impression, high spots occur and this can compromise the elasticity of the metal surface. If high spots appear after dent lifting, most paintless dent removal kits include a plastic center punch that can be used to tap down imperfections.

Pulling sticks are used when a dent is inaccessible. The sticks are coated in glue, which is supplied as part of a paintless dent removal kit, and adhered to the dent before being left to dry. Once the pulling stick has firmly bonded to the auto body panel, it is gripped by a special pulling tool with a reversible hammer function and gently tugged until the impression pops out.

Larger dents are usually more difficult to remove, but there is a simple paintless dent removal technique that any vehicle owner can use without having to purchase a full kit. The entire dented area must be warmed thoroughly with a heat gun or a hair dryer. Care must be taken to maintain a safe working distance or the auto body paint may begin to blister.

Once the auto body panel has warmed sufficiently, take a can of compressed air and spray over the entire dented area to create an ice-like sheen. As the sheen begins to melt away, the temperature change in the metal causes a shrinking effect and in many cases Autel MaxiSys Mini, the dent will pop out completely. Even if the process doesnâ€â„¢t remove the entire dent, it still helps to create an improved working surface for body filler.
