Preventing Machine Deterioration Through Lubrication

This would definitely lead to engine problems and even engine breakdown.

Lubricants are also cleaning agents. This is a vital function not known to many. As the engine runs combustion takes place. Combustion has many by-products that may get lodged in the engineâ€â„¢s rings, valves and cylinders. These unwanted by products if not removed forms sludge overtime. This sludge can clog oil passages and clearances therefore decreasing lubrication to certain parts. The dispersants in lubricants removes the sludge and other contaminants thereby ensuring engine efficiency.

These are just a few of the important contributions of lubrication to engine efficiency and maintenance. To maintain a high level of engine performance it is imperative that changing of motor oils be done regularly. It is often recommended that oil change be done every 3,000 miles or every three months whichever comes first. Some however consider reaching 10,000 miles might be sufficient.
